Coronavirus

Dear Customer,

At BDS Driving School we feel it relevant to keep our staff, customers and families updated on our response and proposed actions to the coronavirus threat.

Although the Department for Health has described the virus as a “serious and imminent threat” and raised the public risk level from “low” to “moderate, the risk to individuals remains.

We are committed as a company to reviewing and updating our policies and practices regularly and will do this in line with government guidance to ensure we take the recommended measures to keep our staff, customers and families safe.

Information is consistently updated on the following government website and will be referred to at all times

What is a coronavirus?

Coronaviruses are a common type of virus – and closely resemble the common cold in the first instance.

What are the symptoms?

The NHS advises that symptoms of the coronavirus usually include:

  • feeling tired
  • difficulty breathing
  • a high temperature
  • a cough

In an effort to help protect and safeguard all customers against the coronavirus which is now spreading throughout the UK and beyond, we need to do our bit and take certain precautions to help prevent the spread to all of us working with BDS.

From this week, at the start of each lesson we will be using Anti-bacterial wipes on the car controls and if available hand sanitiser which will be supplied, to prevent any spread by touch. Please also ensure that you thoroughly wash your hand before and after each lesson.  I’m sure we all understand that BDS has a “care of duty” to all current clients and beyond. This is for everyone’s protection.

If you have new symptoms with a dry cough, sore throat or are running a temperature, please let your instructor know by text as soon as possible before your lesson and we can discuss options to cancel or rearrange your lesson. There will be NO charge for this type of cancellation. Please do not abuse this relaxed approach to our cancellation policy during these uncertain times.

If you’ve travelled to the UK from the following places, even if you do not have symptoms

Italy, China, South Korea outside of Daegu, Cheongdo and Gyeongsan

Cambodia, Hong Kong, Japan, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam.

Stay indoors and avoid contact with other people if you’ve travelled to the UK from the following places in the last 14 days and have a cough, high temperature or shortness of breath, even if your symptoms are mild.

With the Easter school holidays coming up shortly, we need to be made aware of any customer who may visit the countries listed above.

As a precaution, if you visit any of these countries (or those added to the list by the Government) or have any contact with someone who has, then we will NOT allow you to have any lessons for two weeks after the return date to the UK. Your space with your instructor will be held open and you will not be charged for any of these missed lessons.

If you have a driving test booked during this time, we strongly advise you to move the test to a later date as your instructor will refuse to conduct lessons and take you to your driving test.

Please take this message/email in the context as meant, which is to help safeguard all of us, our friends and our families! If you have any questions or concerns about this in relation to your driving lessons, please contact us on 01253 899909
